A 70-year-old motorcyclist and his wife were seriously injured today when a hit-and-run driver rear-ended them on Interstate 80, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Joe Mikles and his wife, Mary, were headed eastbound near Norwood Avenue in Sacramento around 3:45 p.m. when they were struck by what the CHP described as a silver or gray Nissan.
The couple, from Meadow Vista in Placer County, was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center with major but not life-threatening injuries, according to the CHP.
The CHP said the car is likely to have front-end damage, with its Nissan emblem missing. The car was being driven recklessly in the moments before the wreck, the CHP said.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call CHP dispatch at (916) 861-1300.
