A veteran agent with experience in violent crimes and public corruption has been named to take over the FBI's Sacramento field office.

Monica M. Miller (pictured) was named to replace Herb M. Brown, who left earlier this year to become head of the Central California Intelligence Center.

Miller comes to the post from her job as the FBI's senior detailee to the Central Intelligence Agency, where she oversaw counterespionage personnel.

Miller, who will over see FBI operations stretching from the Oregon border to south of Bakersfield, joined the FBI in 1989. Prior to that she served in military intelligence in the U.S. Army.
