An hour-long standoff between Sacramento County sheriff's deputies and a man inside a Rancho Cordova home has ended with the man incustody, according to authorities.
The incident began about 11:15 a.m. when a caller reported a man walking in the area of the 10900 block of Cristobal Way naked and holding an umbrella. Deputies found him outside, washing his car and still naked, said Sgt. Jason Ramos.
The man "brandished" the umbrella at officers, then dropped it when ordered to do so. The man then "attempted to 'zap'" deputies with bug spray, Ramos said. A deputy used a Taser but it was not successful, and the man ran inside the house.
SWAT members were called to the home. The man was arrested shortly before 12:30 p.m.
Ramos said there had been a possibility that there was a gun in the home, though he had not been observed to be armed. There was nobody in the Cristobal Way home with the man, Ramos said.
