Rim fire near Yosemite is 30 percent contained

The Rim fire burning near Yosemite National Park is 30 percent contained, fire officials announced today.

The fire, the sixth largest wildland blaze in recorded state history, has burned 192,737 acres. With the expected return of warmer temperatures, fire officials say that full containment will not occur until Sept. 20.

Full containment of the Deer fire in Tehama County and the American fire in Placer County is expected today.

The Deer fire, 10 miles east of Los Molinos, has burned 11,429 acres. Placer County's American fire, northeast of Foresthill, has charred 26,194 acres.
