A man has been found dead inside a Rocklin home where he was believed to have barricaded himself following a report of domestic violence.
Police received a 911 call at 4:17 p.m. regarding a domestic violence incident involving a man with a gun at the residence in the 1700 block of Piute Street, according to a Police Department news release.
Police said a woman who fled the residence went to a neighbor's house and was safe. The man was believed to be in the house alone.
Police units surrounded the home and established a perimeter. Neighbors in the immediate vicinity of the residence were encouraged to voluntarily evacuate the area.
SWAT and hostage negotiators attempted for several hours to make contact with the man in the house, but without success. SWAT officers then entered and searched the home. The man, believed to be in his 60s, was found dead, and police reported that they found a gun inside the residence.
Police have not released the names of the man and woman, and detectives continue to investigate the incident.
