Poyer Bill Pila Vaenuku (pictured), 28, was ordered into custody this morning while appearing in court on another case, according to a Roseville Police Department news release.
At 1:20 a.m. July 25, a man confronted a woman outside and apartment building in the 1100 block of Conroy Lane in Roseville and demanded her property. When she indicated to the man that she didn't have anything to give him, the man fired a handgun at least three times, police said. Although no one was injured, the rounds went through the window of a nearby apartment, narrowly missing a resident inside.
An investigation by the Roseville Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit and patrol officers led the Placer County District Attorney's Office to file charges against Vaenuku of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied dwelling and attempted robbery.
Vaenuku was booked into Pacer County Jail with bail set at $400,000.
Police said Vaenuku is a member of the Tongan Crip gang, and investigators are trying to determine whether the attempted robbery and shooting were gang related.
