Sacramento police arrest two after kids found unsupervised in 'filthy conditions'

MCGHEE, DAMEIAN-42.jpgA Sacramento couple were taken into custody this week after Sacramento police allegedly found nearly a dozen children unsupervised and living in what was described as "filthy" conditions.

The discovery was made after officers responded to a call Monday night about children throwing rocks at a house in the 4700 block of Valley Hi Drive, according to police.

Officers brought the two children back to their home, where they found another seven children, all of whom were not being supervised by an adult, said police Officer Doug Morse.

Morse said the condition of the home was "deplorable" and "not suitable for children."

Two parents of the children were arrested after they returned home. Police identified them as 42-year-old Dameian McGhee and 37-year-old Katisha Dixon.

DIXON, KATISHA-37.jpgMorse said they were booked on suspicion of neglect charges and, according to booking records, were scheduled for release from the Sacramento County Main Jail today.

The children were taken into protective custody.
