Two men are in custody in connection with the shooting death of a 42-year-old man at Caymus Park earlier this week, authorities say.
Anthony Roberson-Anders, 28, and Kevin Henry, 25, have been booked into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of murder, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says. They stand accused in the death of Colen Lugo.
Sgt. Jason Ramos confirmed today that detectives suspect Lugo was shot during a marijuana deal between him and the suspects. He said the suspects and the victim did not know each other before the transaction, which took place about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Lugo was found shot while sitting in his company's moving truck next to Caymus Park in the southeastern Sacramento County neighborhood of Vineyard. People who heard the gunfire tried to help Lugo but could not dislodge him from the truck. Lugo died at the scene.
The investigation initially led to Roberson-Anders, who is from Bakersfield but spends time in Rancho Cordova, as a suspect, and he was arrested during a vehicle stop in Bakersfield early Thursday. He was driving a vehicle detectives believe was used to flee the scene of Lugo's shooting, Ramos said.
Detectives then identified Henry, of Bakersfield, as a suspect, and he was arrested in his home city early Friday morning, Ramos said.
There are no outstanding suspects in the case, Ramos said.
