Carmichael standoff ends with man in custody

A three-hour stand-off in a Carmichael neighborhood ended with police taking an agitated man into custody.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were called at 6:15 a.m. Monday to a home in the 3100 block of Petty Lane where a man was reported to be drunk and agitated. The family member who made the call also said weapons were in the home.

Initially, deputies could not make contact with the man, however he did come out of the house before going back inside. He was seen wearing a bullet-resistant vest and a thigh holster.

Some neighbors were evacuated and others were told to stay inside. Around 9 a.m., he left the home and was shot with less-than-lethal rubber bullets and was taken into custody.
