The Sacramento County Coroner's office has released the name of the man found dead in his Oak Park home on Monday.
Sacramento police said they are investigating the death of Singh Singh, 84, of Sacramento as a homicide, according to authorities.
Police Officer Michele Gigante said the coroner's preliminary investigation revealed trauma on Singh's body.
Paramedics summoned police to the 4400 block of 6th Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. Monday after a family member had discovered the Singh dead in the home.
Detectives described the death as "suspicious" after identifying possible trauma, and later determined it was a homicide after the coroner's arrival on scene.
Gigante said the motive was not known, but that detectives suspected it was not a random act.
She said today there were no updates in the case.
Ravendra Singh, whose grandfather is the victim's brother, said he had not talked to Singh in about four years. In that time, Singh had distanced himself from the family, said Ravendra Singh.
Efforts by The Bee to reach other relatives of Singh have not been successful.
