Two apartment units were damaged in a fire this morning in Carmichael.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded shortly after 11:30 a.m. to reports of a structure fire on Mary Lynn Lane. They arrived to find a ground-floor apartment and the unit above it engulfed in flames, according to a Fire Department news release. A team of 31 firefighters was able to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading through the large complex.
Capt. Jon Rudnicki said the fire started in the ground-floor unit and spread to the second-story apartment. Tenants of both units were displaced. Rudnicki said one is being aided by the Red Cross and the other by family in the area.
Neither residents nor firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
