Fruitridge Road carjacking foiled; suspect arrested after scuffle

By Allen Pierleoni

An attempted carjacking in Sacramento was foiled Friday afternoon, and a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department deputy arrested the suspect.

A woman and her husband were sitting in their parked car, engine running, at 5:19 p.m. in the 5400 block of Fruitridge Road when a man walked up, reached through the open window and snatched the car keys, according to a Sacramento Police Department report.

When the husband reacted, the suspect "punched him multiple times, which resulted in minor injuries," according to the report.

The husband jumped out of the car, wrestled the suspect to the ground and held him until a sheriff's deputy arrived. Delarian Butler, 34, was arrested and arrested on suspicion of attempted carjacking.
