Lodi school secretary suspected of embezzlement

A Lodi school secretary is suspected of embezzling parent club funds, police said.

Lodi police on Tuesday arrested Susan Taylor, a 58-year-old secretary at Millswood Middle School, on two counts of embezzlement and one count of filing a false police report.

Taylor, who has access to Parent Club funds, filed a police report in April that indicated $1,000 was stolen from the club. Taylor told police that a woman had come to the school and picked up the money for the club treasurer.

Taylor said she gave the money to the woman, police said.

On Tuesday, Taylor contacted the school principal and allegedly said that she had in fact taken the money in April and filed a false police report, according to a police press release.

Taylor is also to have allegedly told the principal that she had committed another $1,000 theft from the club in the last month, according to the release.

School officials contacted Lodi police who took Taylor into custody at her Lodi residence. None of the money has been recovered, according to the release.
