A man believed to be wanted in connection with a New York homicide barricaded himself in a Natomas home Monday evening, a spokeswoman for the Sacramento Police Department said.
Responding to an anonymous tip, the department arrived in force at a home on the 2100 block of Raymar Way at around 7 p.m., said Michele Gigante, a department spokeswoman.
A woman and child left the home and were cooperative, Gigante said. She said the suspect is believed to be alone in the home. She said hostage negotiators and SWAT were called as a precaution, given the suspect's alleged violent history.
Gigante said the department is hoping for a peaceful resolution of the situation. She said the department was not prepared to release any additional information about the suspect, his connection to Sacramento or the New York homicide at this time.
