Placer County Sheriff display of capabilities set for Saturday

A showing of the Placer County Sheriff's Department's different public safety enhancing capabilities is planned for Saturday.

The annual "Day With a Deputy" event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bayside Church, 8191 Sierra College Blvd., Granite Bay.

The public is invited to the free event. On hand will be the department's Special Enforcement Team, honor guard, bomb squad, police dogs, helicopter, dive team, 911 dispatchers, search and rescue teams and others.

The event is put on by the Placer County Sheriff's Council, local business leaders who raise money for equipment such as Tasers and honor guard uniforms.

There will also be a bounce house, face painting and food available for purchase.
