Sacramento police say woman arrested in man's stabbing death knew victim

Tiana Smith-Anderson.jpgSacramento police have arrested a woman in the stabbing death of an elderly man found dead in his Oak Park home on Monday.

Sacramento police booked Tiana Smith-Anderson, 27, into Sacramento County Jail late Thursday night on suspicion of murder.

Smith-Anderson was located by the police department's Career Criminal Apprehension Team. Police said she is believed to have stabbed Singh Singh, 84, multiple times, the wounds leading to his death.

Paramedics summoned police to the 4400 block of 6th Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. Monday after a family member had discovered the Singh dead in the home.

Police said that the specific motive in Singh's death is still being investigated, but that detectives believe the killing was not a random act.

"They knew each other," said police spokesman Officer Doug Morse.
