Two convicted in DUI death in Elk Grove

Two women were convicted Thursday for the drunken driving death of a 20-year-old man in Elk Grove two years ago.

Jurors found Heili Marie Gantan, 23, guilty of driving under the influence and causing great bodily injury in the May 28, 2011, death of Ivan Oscar Camero, who was a passenger in her car.

Gantan and co-defendant Ladonna Marie Torres, 23, were both found guilty of leaving the scene of the crash on Power Inn Road.

Gantan registered a blood-alcohol level of .11, and toxicology tests also disclosed that she had the active ingredient for marijuana in her system.

Sacramento Superior Court Judge Allen H. Sumner scheduled their sentencing for Oct. 25.
