A Woodland couple was surprised to find a man passed out inside their home when they returned at 7:22 p.m. Saturday.

The house on Lincoln Avenue allegedly had been ransacked and property was missing, the Woodland Police Department reported Sunday. Some of the doors to the house had been barricaded from the inside, according to police.

The couple called the police, who surrounded the house and tried to contact the slumbering man, later identified as Alejandro Hurtado, 27. After officers made several unsuccessful attempts to contact Hurtado, the Woodland Police Department called in its SWAT team.

Hurtado moved deeper inside the home, according to police.

He eventually was located inside the house and arrested on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest. He was booked into Yolo County Jail.
