QUESTION: What happened to the person who shot Edward Chaney on Salmon Falls Drive in Rancho Cordova in 2008 or 2009?
Submitted by: Diana, Fair Oaks
ANSWER: The slaying of Edward Chaney in November 2008 remains unsolved.
Chaney's body was discovered by neighbors who went to visit him at his duplex on Salmon Falls Drive, near La Riviera Drive, according to stories in The Bee. They looked through a window and saw him lying on the floor.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Sheriff's officials said he had been shot multiple times.
Neighbors told deputies that Chaney had lived alone in his duplex since June 2007. Authorities found no evidence of a break-in other than where neighbors forced their way in after spotting Chaney's body.
Although authorities did not reveal a motive for the slaying, Sacramento County court records showed Chaney had a criminal history, including charges of drug possession, domestic violence, possession of stolen property and driving under the influence. His aliases included "Dion Diamonds" and "Chaney Ice".
