Submitted by: Linda, Elk Grove

ANSWER: Elpidio Tellez is scheduled for trial Oct. 17 in the shooting death of 36-year-old Jesse James Nunez, according to Sacramento Superior Court online records.

Nunez was found at 15th and S streets about 8:41 p.m. Nov. 7 after a Sacramento Police Department patrol sergeant heard several gunshots. According to accounts in The Bee, a witness reported that a shooting had just occurred and people were seen scattering from the area.

Nunez suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Tellez, 36, was arrested just south of the area where the shooting occurred. He was initially taken into custody on warrants and later arrested in connection with Nunez's death. He is in Sacramento County Jail charged with murder, possession of a firerarm by a felon, and buying or receiving stolen property.
