Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters were busy overnight putting out fires at a Carmichael pizza parlor and southern Sacramento County mobile home.
At 12:10 a.m. today firefighters were called to Mark and Monica's Family Pizza Restaurant, 4751 Manzanita Ave., where fire in brush in front of the business had "extended into part of the structure," according to a fire district press release.
Crews limited the growth of the fire by quickly pouring water on the flames. Most of the building was spared from fire damage as 40 firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within 45 minutes of arrival.
Damage was estimated at $50,000. The cause is under investigation.
Then, just after 2 a.m., Sac Metro fire crews in the south end of the sprawling district were called to a mobile home fire at 6435 Orange Ave., which is near Stockton Boulevard and Florin Road. Arriving crews conducted a search of the blazing mobile home to confirm everyone was out of residence.
Firefighting limited damage to the kitchen. An estimated $20,000 in damage was reported.
