Eduardo Angeles Jr. was arrested on suspicion of multiple charges, including possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Dave Martinez.
A CHP officer doing speed enforcement on Interstate 80 near Dry Creek Road stopped Angeles after the officer observed his Jeep Cherokee travelling about 90 miles per hour, Martinez said.
Upon contacting Angeles, who was the only person in the car, the officer "could smell the strong odor of marijuana from within the vehicle," Martinez wrote in a news release. Further investigation with the help of the Placer County Sheriff's Department's Special Investigation Unit revealed the marijuana.
Martinez said Angeles was headed back to Illinois when he was stopped.
Angeles was booked into the Placer County Jail.
