Downtown Sacramento shooting leaves one man injured

A fight turned into a shooting early this morning at 15th and L streets in Sacramento.

Police were initially summoned at about 12:30 a.m. to a report of a knifing at the corner near the Capitol and late night-operating bars and restaurants. When officers arrived, they learned that a man had actually been shot in his upper body.

A Sacramento police activity report said that two people passed two others when an argument began between the two groups. Words escalated into a fight -- and the fight into a shot being fired.

All parties to the incident were contacted by officers and an investigation is ongoing police said today. No arrests have been made.

The wounded man was transported to the hospital. Information on the severity of his injury was not available.
