El Dorado Sheriff participating in prescription drug take back day

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office is providing residents the opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medications on Oct. 26.

Collections stations will be staffed by sheriff's department personnel from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at three locations:

  • The sheriff's office, 300 Fair Lane, Placerville.
  • The sheriff's substation, 4554 Town Center Boulevard, Number 112, El Dorado Hills.
  • Cool Physical Therapy, 5000 Ellinghouse Drive, Suite 100, Cool.

Prescription medicines can be a safety hazard for children and a tempting target for thieves. In addition, it is important to dispose of the drugs in an ecologically sensitive way, not by flushing or pouring down a drain.

Remove name labels and place containers in a plastic bag before bringing to a drop-off point.
