Fairfield man arrested in connection with Vacaville fire

A Fairfield man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of arson in the Oct. 9 fire at the Mariani Fruit Packing Co. in Vacaville.

Vacaville police arrested Edward Burke IV, 20, following an investigation into the fire at the fruit packing plant. About 300 employees were evacuated from the plant as a safety precaution during the incident. Authorities later determined that the flames were sparked by three separate fires.

Burke, a temporary employee, had been working at Mariani for the last three months, according to Vacaville police.

Anyone who may have information related to this case is asked to contact
Detective Mark Ferreira of the Vacaville Police Department at (707) 449-5258.
