Fire at Lincoln lumber mill quelled

A three-alarm lumber mill fire was extinguished last night in Lincoln.

The fire at the Sierra Pacific Industries mill in 1400 block of Lincoln Boulevard was reported by plant security personnel at 10:40 p.m. Sunday. The first-arriving crews found fire in a large mezzanine above a lumber-drying kiln.

A fire sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading until it could be completely extinguished by firefighters. Firefighters from Rocklin, Roseville and Placer County Fire/Cal Fire helped Lincoln Fire Department control the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The blaze is estimated by Lincoln Fire Department officials to have caused $75,000 in damage.
