A high-speed chase Friday night that stretched from Rancho Cordova to Elk Grove ended with the suspect in custody, authorities said.
The chase reached speeds of 100 mph, according to scanner traffic reported on Twitter. The episode started in Rancho Cordova with a man in a blue Prius pointing a handgun at motorists the male suspect had engaged in a verbal argument, said Sgt. Lisa Bowman, of the Sacramento Sheriff's Department.
Scanner traffic and Twitter posts put the start of the incident at 7 p.m. When deputies arrived, the man fled. The pursuit involved several jurisdictions before coming to an end in Elk Grove about 8 p.m., when officers used spike strips to disable the Prius. The driver showed signs of being under the influence of some substance, Bowman said.
No one was injured in the incident, she said.
