Jeff Holzman (pictured) was booked into Placer County Jail today on suspicion of burglary, being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, and violation of his post release community supervision conditions, according to a Police Department news release.
Officers went to the Salvation Army quarters at 286 Sutter St. Wednesday regarding a theft report. They were told that between Friday and Tuesday, two people had gained access to the freezer and taken more than 300 pounds of packaged meat. The food is provided through charitable donations to help feed the homeless and needy families in the Auburn area.
Detectives followed up on leads and located most of the stolen meat at a business in Penryn. They took custody of the packaged meat, photographed it and returned it to the Salvation Army.
The investigation led detectives to arrest Holzman as one of the suspects in the theft.
Police said the investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call Detective Dustin McLaughlin at (530) 823-4237, ext. 221.
