Man killed in auto-pedestrian accident in north Sacramento identified

A man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in north Sacramento early Tuesday has been identified.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified him Wednesday as Jeffery Allen Ritz, 33. No city was given as his residence.

At 6 a.m. Tuesday, Ritz was apparently walking north across Arden Way, near Empress Street, when an eastbound vehicle on Arden Way struck him.

Ritz was pronounced dead at the scene, which the coroner's office had indicated was in front of a Shell gas station, 860 Arden Way.

The motorist, who was not identified, had remained on the scene. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, which occurred near an uncontrolled intersection.
