Man reportedly attacked, tied up at Olivehurst home

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is investigating an attack on a man who reported he was assaulted by three men as he entered his Olivehurst home Sunday night.

Deputies responded at 8:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of an apparent robbery on Western Avenue. When they arrived, they were told that the victim had been attacked by three men, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. The victim told deputies that he had been away from his residence and when he returned, he went to the back yard to enter through the back door. As he reached the back door, he was struck with what he described as a handgun and rendered unconscious.

The man's hands and feet were bound, and he was dragged into the residence. When he awoke some time later, his assailants were gone.

The victim was assisted by a friend who had come to the home to visit. He was transported to Rideout Memorial Hospital and was admitted for treatment of his injuries.

Sheriff's officials said it is not known whether anything was taken from the home, but investigators learned that the victim had a marijuana grow at the residence.

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call the Yuba County Sheriff's Department at (530) 749-7777.
