Man sentenced to prison term for murder

By Ed Fletcher

The Sacramento County District Attorney's office announced that Winzer Deandre Hayden, 28, has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for the July 10, 2012, shooting death of Westley Wheeler, 18.

On Sept. 20, a jury convicted Hayden of first-degree murder and also found true that he personally used a firearm causing death, according to the DA's office.

Hayden, who is also known as "Dboy," has a lengthy court history, online courts records show. Hayden shot Wheeler in the back following an argument between Wheeler and Hayden's cousin.

Wheeler had initially escaped capture after a police SWAT team surrounded an Del Paso Heights-area address July 10 based on a tip. He was picked up two days later on unrelated charges.
