Man who led police on high speed chase identified

The man who allegedly led police on a high speed chase from Rancho Cordova to Elk Grove Friday night has been identified as Kevin Allen Metcalf, 26, authorities said.

The episode started in Rancho Cordova when Allen, driving a blue Prius, pointed a handgun at motorists he had engaged in a verbal argument, said Sgt. Lisa Bowman, of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Allen is being charged multiple felony and misdemeanor counts that include reckless driving and evading police.

Multiple agencies including the California Highway Patrol, the Sheriff's Department and Elk Grove Police Department assisted during the pursuit. No one was injured during the incident.
