New fire chief takes command in S. Lake Tahoe

Jeff Meston.JPGThe South Lake Tahoe Fire Department has selected a new fire chief.

A change of command ceremony was held in City Hall on Tuesday when interim Fire Chief Bruce Martin officially passed leadership of the department to new chief Jeffrey Meston (pictured)

Meston had a 30-year career in fire service and retired from the Novato Fire District. For the past seven years he has been in private consulting.

Meston has a Masters degree in Public Administration, certification as a Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2, Driver operator, fire officer, chief officer and fire chief.

"We're thrilled to have him on board," said South Lake Tahoe City Manager Nancy Kerry.
