Rio Linda building heavily damaged by fire

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews were able to save half of a building in Rio Linda hit hard by fire last night.

The fire was reported about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at a construction company building in the 2400 block of Elkhorn Boulevard. First-arriving crews found flames at the front of the structure.

Crews immediately worked to extinguish the fire at the single-story building, limiting damage to half of the structure, according to a fire district press release. About 40 firefighters were able to bring the fire under control about 35 minutes after arrival.

A portion of the roof collapsed. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
