Thieves target walnuts in Sutter County

The Sutter County Sheriff's Office is advising residents to be on the lookout for people stealing nuts.

Officials report an increase in agricultural thefts in the county, primarily involving walnuts. More than 10,000 pounds of Chandler walnuts were taken Tuesday night from an area south of Messick Road, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity to the Sutter County Sheriff's Office at (530) 822-7307. Tip information also may be left anonymously on the sheriff's website at www.suttersheriff.org.
