Authorities seek dog that bit man in Woodland park

Yolo County Animal Services officers ask the public's help in finding a dog that bit a man in a Woodland park.

The incident occurred about 10 p.m. Friday in Crawford Park at College Street and El Dorado Drive. The man was bitten by a Doberman pinscher as he attempted to pet the dog. The man suffered multiple puncture wounds to his hand and arm, according to a Yolo County Sheriff's Office news release.

The dog is described as a large animal with a muscular chest but slender body, dark brown and black, with floppy ears and a docked tail. The dog was wearing a tan colored collar but no identification tags. The animal was last seen heading south from the park.

Anyone with information regarding the dog is asked to call the Sheriff's Department's Animal Services section at (530) 668-5287, or email animal.bite@yolocounty.org. Identifying the dog to verify current rabies vaccination could spare the victim post exposure rabies treatment.

Officials remind the public that under the California Health and Safety Code, anyone who knows the location or ownership of a biting dog and conceals that information is guilty of a misdemeanor.
