A Sacramento County jury today convicted Michael Nunally of first-degree murder in the shooting of 29-year-old Kaster Tezino behind an Arden Way motel.
The shooting occurred Sept. 25, 2012, behind the Motel 6 at 2030 Arden Way. According to evidence presented at trial, Nunally believed Tezino had assaulted a prostitute who worked for him.
With the aid of the prostitute, Nunally lured Tezino to a room at the back of the motel by leading him to believe that he was going to meet the woman there for a date, according to a Sacramento County District Attoney's Office news release. Instead, Nunally and his accomplice waited for Tezino and shot him in the back.
Sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel responded, and Tezino was transported to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Nunally, 29, is to be sentenced Dec. 6 by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Sharon Lueras.
