Love may be king in old Napoli, but good deals reign supreme at a string of Northern California Italian eateries.
Bay Area-based Pasta Pomodoro restaurant group has launched a Monday night promotion called "Cena di Familia," a family-style $35 three-course supper for four.
What's more, during April, 25 percent of the proceeds from each Cena di Familia meal sold will go to Bay Area food banks, the company stated in a news release.
The meal includes a choice of Caesar or mista salad, spaghetti polpette (pork and beef meatballs), rigatoni bolognese (beef and pork sugo), penne salsiccia (Italian sausage), penne portabello, vongole (clams), tortellini alla panna (braised beef, pork and pancetta with sage and cream), pollo parmigiana (chicken parmesan) or conchiglie gamberi (shell pasta with shrimp, asparagus and cream), and gelato for dessert.
The dinner deal is available from 4 to 9:30 p.m. each Monday. There are 17 locations in the Bay Area and one in Roseville, at 3984 Douglas Boulevard.
The restaurant group also is offering families with young children a deal on Tuesdays, when children under 12 eat free.
Their kids' menu, thankfully, includes items such as cheesy pasta, pizza, grilled cheese and mini parmigiana and meals come with a drink and a chocolate sundae.
More adventurous pint-size eaters also can build their own meal from a selection of pasta and sauces.
Talk about "vita bella."
