Vodka comes in many flavors, including chocolate. Which - in a stretch - links to Valentine's Day (Feb. 14), when chocolates and flowers rule. Suddenly, we have the notion of a chocolate vodka-based cocktail.
This recipe is from the folks at the Van Gogh Vodka company in Holland, whose version of chocolate vodka contains Dutch cocoa and Colombian coffee, plus spices.
1-1/2 ounces chocolate-flavored vodka
1 large strawberry, chopped
Handful of mint leaves
1 teaspoon agave nectar
1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
3 ounces Champagne or other sparkling wine
Muddle the strawberry and mint with agave and lemon. Add vodka and strain into chilled Champagne flute. Top with Champagne or other wine. Garnish with a strawberry slice on the rim.
