We'll be having lunch at a Chevys soon, for a review in the "Counter Culture" column in an upcoming Friday Ticket section.
Meanwhile, with tax deadline looming, a few specials will be happening during "Taste of Tax Relief" weekend:
Right now, you can download a "Taquitos Are Better Than Taxes" coupon at Chevys Facebook page (facebook.com/chevysfreshmex). Cash it in on Friday only for a free order of chicken taquitos.
Beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, till closing, the nine Sacramento-area Chevys will host "Tacos Are Better Than Taxes" cantina parties with entertainment. Customers can vote on which new "street tacos" should be added to the permanent menu - chicken, steak, shrimp, carnitas, fish and/or pork (six tacos for $4.13)
From Friday through Monday, "Tequila is Better Than Taxes" will feature new flavors of margaritas, two for $10.40. Pictured here is the Kickin' Bueno Margarita, premium 1800 Reposado tequila margarita served on the rocks in a boot-shaped mug, with a shot literally on the side.
On Tuesday, Chevys will pick up the tax on all its guests' checks.
