In a mission to "reach out to the community," Hot Italian restaurant will host its third annual Moderno Italian Festival, combining "contemporary Italian food, design and film."
Hot Italian is at 1627 16th St., in Midtown Sacramento; (916) 444-3000, www.hotitalian.net, www.facebook.com/hotitalian.
Here's the lineup for the free fest, to be held at the restaurant and in Fremont Park (converted into a "bike-in theater" for the two movies) across the street from Hot Italian.
For the movies, festival-goers are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs, and may purchase to-go pizza, panini, salads and beverages at the restaurant before the movies.
Friday, Oct. 5, 6 to 9 p.m.: Test-drive a Fiat sportscar; check out sleek Italian furniture, lighting and accessories in the Italian design installation curated by Lumens Light + Living; see a display of Italian bicycles and cutting-edge biking gear; and sample Italian foods, cheese, chocolates, olive oils, wine and beer. At 9 p.m., watch the movie "Benvenuti Al Sud" ("Welcome to the South") at the outdoor, bike-in theater.
Saturday, Oct. 5, 6 to 9 p.m.: More of the same, without the Fiat test-drives. The 9 p.m. movie will be "La Doppia Ora" ("The Double Hour").
