Capital Christian hasn't missed a beat.
New quarterback? No problem.
James Lee has stepped in admirably for record-setting passer Kramer Hagan, now on scholarship at Portland State.
Lee, a junior, waited his turn in the program and has made the best of it, rating among the state leaders in yards passing (1,309) and touchdown throws (17) for a team that has won three straight heading into Friday's homecoming game against 3-2 Placer.
There's still a Hagan in the mix in senior receiver Spencer, kid brother to Kramer. Spencer has 591 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, and he has plenty of help with tailback Cody Barsam (five touchdowns), T.J. Oates (three touchdowns) and Jeremiah Oates (three touchdown receptions).
Extra note: T.J. and Jeremiah are not the sons of Capital basketball coach Phil Oates, though the coach said he is looking forward to having them in bigh tops this winter. And being their agent someday!
