Catching Up: Tyson Rietz, Granite Bay soccer

Tyson Rietz was a first-team All-Metro soccer goalkeeper for Granite Bay as a senior in 2005. Last winter, he made a name for himself in another sport. Rietz played for the men's volleyball team at Boston's Emmanuel College.

Rietz, a transfer from Santa Barbara Community College, provided solid all-around play for the Saints. He was second on the Saints in kills (3.15 per set), digs (1.75) and aces (0.50). Rietz was second-team all-Great Northeast Athletic Conference as a junior.

For the Granite Bay soccer team his senior year, Rietz had 85 saves in 1,204 minutes in goal. He posted five shutouts for the 19-2-2 Grizzlies.
