Former Elk Grove High School wrestling standout Nick Jordan is 21-9 with six pins and four major decisions as a senior at Cal State Fullerton. He placed third at 149 pounds last weekend at the San Francisco State Open. The Titans resume action Sunday in a dual match at Oregon State.
Jordan entered the season with a career record of 28-20, five pins and four major decisions for the Titans. He was 13-6 at 149 pounds and 3-7 at 157 pounds last season.
"I started off the season ranked second in (Pacific-10) Conference, but I've dropped to fifth," Jordan wrote in an e-mail. "I'm not letting that get to me, though, because I know once our conference tournament comes (Feb. 27), I'll be ready to knock off some of the higher-seeded guys."
According to his father, Josh Jordan, Nick was a Sac-Joaquin Section champion, two-time subsection champion and three-time Delta League champion. Jordan, who made two CIF state championship appearances, is a member of the Thundering Herd's Wall of Fame.
Jordan was a first-team All-Metro pick as a senior, when he was 43-12. He took firsts in the section and subsection and was sixth in the state at 135 pounds.
