It will be a big day Wednesday at Encina Preparatory High School.
For the first time in recent memory, the Bulldogs will send a player off to college on an athletic scholarship.
Soccer standout Miguel Aguilar will sign his NCAA letter of intent with the University of San Francisco at an 11:15 a.m. signing ceremony at the campus.
A club player for Capital Athletic Soccer Academy Boca, he helped Encina to win back-to-back Sac-Joaquin Section boys soccer championships as a junior and senior.
"I've been here 22 years, and he is as good as any player Sacramento has ever produced," Michael Linenberger, Sacramento State's men's soccer coach told The Bee's Marcos Breton last fall.
According to Encina athletic director Richard Tucker, Aguilar has maintained a 3.60 grade-point average while taking honors and advanced placement classes.
