Ex-Granite Bay star Scott Roth wins NCAA indoor pole vault title

Former Granite Bay High star and University of Washington senior Scott Roth successfully defended his NCAA Indoor Championship in the pole vault on Friday at Texas A&M's Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

Roth won with a jump of 18 feet, one-half inch.

The performance was noteworthy because Scott has dealing with a hamstring injury that had sidelined him during the past month.

"I didn't really have expectations; I didn't expect to even be here this year," Roth said on the Huskies' track web-site. "So that made the feel of the meet entirely different. I just went out there and had fun, was relaxed and talking to people, so it was a really enjoyable competition for me."
