No surprise that Franklin of Elk Grove ventured to top-seeded Castro Valley and gave the Trojans every bit of a game, falling 68-63 in a NorCal Division I playoff game.

"They're a good team," Castro Valley coach Nick Jones told reporters of the Wildcats, coached by Jesse Formaker. "They're the most athletic team we've played all year."

Roderick Bobbitt, one of three Division I prospects on the 29-1 Castro Valley team, had 24 of his 34 points in the first half. He had five of his six three-pointers in the first half to help build double-digit leads. Castro Valley will now play Oakland, which downed Jesuit in another D-I game.

Franklin won a league championship for the fifth time since becoming a varsity program in 2005. It's a young roster with few seniors, though two of them are paramount in Anthony King and Chuks Iroegbu.

The Wildcats beat Serra of San Mateo in a NorCal opener Tuesday.
