Nationally ranked Elk Grove baseball beats Bells; Mitty next

Elk Grove, which has climbed to No. 11 in's national top 25 baseball rankings, opened its two-game tour of San Jose today with a 6-3 win against Bellarmine.

Ryan King, Jesse Anguiano and Ryan Tellez combined for a two-hitter. Tellez went three-for-three with a double and three runs batted in.

The Thundering Herd (2-0) is scheduled to play 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Mitty (4-1-1), which beat Jesuit 12-5 today in San Jose.

The Monarchs started the season as the top team in the Xcellent 25, but a 0-0 tie with Salinas and a 3-0 loss to Wilcox of Santa Clara dropped the Monarchs this week to No. 24.
