The Placer United Prestige '94 gold girls soccer team has qualified for the United States Soccer Far West Regional championships June 20-26 in Boise, Idaho.
The team qualified as one of two at-large teams in the Under 17 girls division after losing 3-1 to the Mustang Rampage of Danville in Sunday's California Youth Soccer Association State Cup-North championship match in Elk Grove. It is considered the Northern California championship for club soccer.
The Prestige went 4-1 during the tournament and outscored opponents 24-4.
The Far West Regional field will include 14 western state champions plus two wild card teams.
This season, the Prestige won the Pleasanton College Showcase, Placer United Cup, Presidents Day Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., and the Las Vegas College Showcase.
Members of the team are Kayla Karlsson, Christy Cooper, Erin Pellerin and Maria Dela Cruz, Granite Bay; Lauren Gollnick, Rachel Sloss and Miranda Bailey, Del Oro; and Jessica Santos, Megan Hanson and Emily Huska, Rocklin.
Also on the team are Marissa Griffin and Rachel Dortch, Woodcreek; Kelsey DeCarlo and Kellyn Morning, Roseville; Aliska Berry, St. Francis; Caitlyn Kretszchmar, Folsom; Mikaela Arnstein, Truckee; and Shelby Brown, Marin Catholic-Kentfield.
