Roseville's Coy right at home in signing softball letter of intent

Jennifer Birch calls Alicea Coy the best softball player she has coached in her 13 years at Roseville High School.

So it was only appropriate that when Coy signed her national letter of intent with the University of Delaware Thursday afternoon, she did so on the Roseville softball field, shortly after the Tigers defeated Rocklin 5-2 in a Sierra Foothill League.

Coy, the Tigers' senior second baseman, signed at a table along the right field line, surrounded by her teammates, coaches and family.

A three-year all-league player, Coy leads the Tigers in hitting at .415. She also has a team-high 17 runs batted in.
